Rubboard on the Bayou, Lily Pad Two-Step, or Zydeco Sundown

Out on the bayou, the party doesn't need a dance floor. In this original acrylic painting, a washboard player in a straw hat and red shirt keeps the rhythm while balancing on a giant lily pad, lost in the groove as the music rolls across the water.

Behind him, a guitarist and accordion player hold down the band on the bank, and a couple swings into a dance under glowing lanterns hung from moss-draped trees. The sunset melts into the water in streaks of gold, orange and violet. A great blue heron stands by to listen, water lilies bloom in coral and pink, and if you look closely, a little gator has slipped in for the show too.

Painted in thick, energetic strokes with bold color throughout, this piece celebrates zydeco, Creole and Cajun culture, and the joyful sound of South Louisiana. It's a lively conversation piece for any music lover's home.
