Slide Into the Night, Quarter Moon Trombone

Slide Into the Night, Quarter Moon Trombone

The Quarter comes alive after dark in this original acrylic painting. A trombone player in a brimmed cap, red glasses and bow tie leans into his horn, cheeks full and eyes locked in, as the long golden slide cuts boldly across the canvas toward the bell.

Behind him, wrought-iron balconies spill over with greenery and red blooms, gas lanterns flicker warm amber light, and a crescent moon hangs in the violet sky. The tilted, dramatic angle and heavy, rhythmic brushstrokes pull you right into the moment, as if you're standing on the street with the music blasting past your ear.

Painted in rich oranges, golds, purples and blues, this piece captures the energy and soul of New Orleans street music. It's a striking choice for a music room, bar area or any space that needs a little brass band swagger.
